Olga Lang:     "I grew up in my mother’s boarding house, where I learned to talk with my hands and listen with my heart.  This colourful environment was rich with laughter, compassion, and folk traditions, which have all played an instrumental role in my life an art.  And what is art but an expression of life? I like to prime my canvases red.  For me, red is joy.  We all crave to see our reflection, be comforted by the connections of who we are, where we live, and our life experience.  I try to meet this need by painting what I know, with an undercoat of joy."
